Wedding Ring Workshop – Terms & Conditions
1. About These Terms
These terms apply to all “Make Your Own Wedding Ring Workshops” run by West Country Goldsmiths (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking a workshop or paying a deposit, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms.
2. Workshops & Eligibility
Workshops take place at our Plymouth workshop unless otherwise agreed.
-
Workshops are private and limited to a maximum of two participants
-
Participants must be 18 years or over
-
We reserve the right to request valid ID where appropriate
-
Workshops involve the use of jewellery tools and equipment (see Health & Safety below)
3. Consultation & Booking
All workshops begin with a free Wedding Ring Workshop consultation, where we discuss designs, materials, pricing and availability.
Once details are agreed:
-
A 20% deposit is required to secure your workshop date
-
The remaining balance is payable as agreed following the workshop
Prices are confirmed at consultation and may vary depending on materials and optional extras.
4. Deposits, Cancellations & Rescheduling
Deposits are required to secure your workshop date and cover preparation, staffing and workshop scheduling.
-
Deposits are non-refundable
-
You may reschedule your workshop once, without loss of deposit, by giving at least 3 business days’ notice
-
If less than 3 business days’ notice is given, we reserve the right to retain part or all of the deposit to cover staffing and operational costs already incurred
-
Deposits cannot be transferred to another customer without prior agreement
We aim to be fair and reasonable and will always discuss options with you where possible.
5. On the Day of the Workshop
During the workshop you will:
-
Be guided by experienced goldsmiths at every stage
-
Learn traditional jewellery-making techniques
-
Create your wedding rings under professional supervision
Most rings are taken home on the same day. Where additional work is required (such as hallmarking or stone setting), rings will remain with us until complete.
You are welcome to bring a photographer, provided this is agreed in advance and does not interfere with safety or instruction.
6. Handmade Nature of the Rings
By taking part in the workshop, you acknowledge that:
-
Your rings are handmade items
-
Minor variations, marks or textures are a natural part of the making process
-
Design decisions made during the workshop are your responsibility, with guidance from our goldsmiths
We will always advise and assist to achieve the best possible result.
7. Cleaning, Polishing & Aftercare
Where rings are made in our workshop, we include one complimentary professional clean and polish.
-
This will be provided as a voucher
-
The voucher can be redeemed at any time by booking in advance
-
The voucher is non-transferable and has no cash value
8. Materials & Hallmarking
We work with precious metals including gold, platinum and silver.
-
Hallmarking is optional and charged at the customer’s expense
-
Hallmarking is carried out by an independent UK assay office
-
Turnaround times vary and may range from a few days to several weeks, depending on service selected
-
We are not responsible for delays caused by third parties, including assay offices
Recycling heirloom gold is available for gold only. Platinum cannot be recycled in this way due to specialist melting requirements.
9. Health & Safety
Workshops involve the use of tools and equipment including (but not limited to) saws, torches, hammers and polishing machinery.
-
Full instructions and safety guidance will be provided
-
Participants must follow all instructions given by our staff
-
We reserve the right to stop or pause a workshop if safety instructions are not followed
You must not attend a workshop if you are unwell or have a condition that could pose a risk to yourself or others.
10. Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability in any circumstances where it would be unlawful to do so.
Subject to this:
-
We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by failure to follow instructions
-
We are not responsible for personal belongings brought to the workshop
-
Participation is at your own risk, following proper instruction and supervision
11. Photography & Use of Images
With your permission, we may take photographs during workshops for marketing purposes. You are under no obligation to agree, and consent can be withdrawn at any time.
12. Changes or Cancellation by Us
In the unlikely event we need to cancel or reschedule your workshop due to circumstances beyond our control, we will offer an alternative date or a full refund of any amounts paid.
13. Contact
